# What is an NFT?

A non-Fungible token (NFT) is a unique, digital, and interchangeable item and a unit of data in a digital ledger called a blockchain. NFTs can be presented as art, audio, video, and other forms of creative work. The underlying blockchains behind NFTs provide proof of ownership to the recipients.
